Nike is launching the Blazy, a shoe that takes a well-known silhouette and offers an intentionally more relaxed interpretation of it. Inspired by the classic Blazer, the Blazy gains room at the front of the foot and even plays with its name to claim this new, effortless attitude.
Design Details and Construction
The shoe's lineage to the Blazer appears immediately in its lines, but the Blazy modifies several key elements of its construction. The forefoot becomes noticeably more spacious, while a double-banded midsole creates a slightly sloped visual effect.
This precise detail is what explains the name. Nike presents the Blazy as a "Lazy Blazer," positioning it as a more relaxed version of its iconic predecessor. Therefore, the silhouette doesn't try to hide its inspiration; rather, it deconstructs it with a looser construction.
On the featured Black and Sail version, the upper combines leather, suede, and canvas within a mostly black palette. An embroidered Swoosh stands out on the sides, while the contrasting Sail tones provide visual interest throughout.
With the Blazy, Nike isn't reinventing the Blazer; the brand is simply loosening its laces a little bit.
